  ABSTRACT

DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF NEW DERIVATIVE UVSPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS FOR QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION OF ABACAVIR SULPHATE IN BULK AND PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORM

Second, third and fourth order derivative UV-Spectrophotometric methods have been developed and validated for the estimation of Abacavir sulphate in bulk and its tablet formulations. The solutions of standard and sample were prepared in distilled water. The Abacavir sulphate solution was showed the maximum absorbance at 303nm, 300nm and 298nm for the Second, third and fourth order UV-Spectrophotometric methods respectively. Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 10 - 40 μg / ml with correlation coefficient value 0.999 for all the methods. These methods were tested and validated for various parameters like Accuracy, precision, LOD and LOQ according to ICH guidelines. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of Abacavir sulphate in tablet formulations. In addition, the proposed methods are simple, easy to apply, low cost, and requires relatively inexpensive instruments
