  ABSTRACT

THE CLINICAL STUDY OF MUSHAKADI TAIL PICHUDHARAN (TAMPON OF OIL) IN GARBHASHAYABHRANSHA (UTERINE PROLAPSE)

Uterine prolapse is a herniation of pelvic organ through the vagina. Normally when a women strains neither the vaginal wall nor the uterus descends. The risk of prolapsed uterus increases with age of woman and decrease in estrogen (hormone that helps keep the pelvic muscles strong) levels. Damages to pelvic muscles, tissues during pregnancy and childbirth may also lead to prolapse. Women who have had more than one vaginal birth and post-menopausal women are at the highest risk. Modern Medical Science treat this condition by pessary but restricted use of pessary in some conditions like severe vaginal infections, ulcers of cervix, bleeding etc. even surgical procedures are also contraindicated in severe anaemia, diabetes etc. Ayurveda is an ancient science. It has wide range of medicines. We used Mushakadi Tail (An Ayurvedic Preparation) Pichudharan on Uterine Prolapse as this is one of the best panchkarma modality suggested by ancient Ayurvedic books
