  ABSTRACT

FORMULATION & INVITRO EVALUATION OF NOVEL FLOATING PULSATILE APPROACH FOR THE CHRONOTHERAPEUTIC RELEASE OF NIZATIDINE-A TIME & SITE SPECIFIC DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

This study was conducted to develop and evaluate floating pulsatile tablets of Nizatidine for the treatment of ulcer. Floating pulsatile tablets were developed by fallowing way. It has mainly three different parts 1) Rapid release core tablet(RRT), 2) pusatile release tablet (PRT), 3) Floating pulsatile tablet (FPT). RRT was prepared by using superdisintegratents like crospovidone & ccs along with active ingredients by direct compression method. preparation of pulsatile coating tablet by using different polymers like HPMCK15M & CHITOSAN with different concentrations. To the optimized PRT using in the preparation of FPT tablets by using different concentration of sodium bicaronate. Disintegration time of rapid release core tablets 3 minits.lag time of pulsatile tablet 4 hr. Total floating time more than 5 hr. The developed floating pulsatile tablets by effervescence method were evaluated for preformulation parameters, weight variation, thickness, hardness, friability, drug content, content uniformity, In vitro floating properties, and In vitro drug release. On the basis of the evaluation of parameters it was found that optimized floating pulsatile tablet formulation F3 showed floating lag time 150 sec. total floating time more than 8 hr & pulsatile release lag 4 hr
