  ABSTRACT

DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION FOR SIMULTANEOUS TIMATION OF CEFEPIME HCl AND TAZOBACTAM SODIUM IN BULK AND INJECTABLE DOSAGE FORM USING RP-HPLC METHOD

This research manuscript describes simple, sensitive, accurate, precise and repeatable RP-HPLC method for the simultaneous estimation of Cefepime HCl and Tazobactam sodium in bulk and injectable dosage form. The sample was analyzed by reverse phase C18 column (Inertsil 250×4.6 mm ID, 5 µm) with mobile phase. In mobile phase, Solvent A containing HPLC grade water (pH adjusted to 2.8 with orthophosphoric acid) and Solvent B containing Acetonitrile in the ratio 60:40 (v/v) with flow rate of 1ml/min. Quantification was achieved at 226nm with UV-Visible detector. The retention time for Cefepime HCl and Tazobactam sodium was found to be 3.200 and 4.999 minute respectively. The linearity for Cefepime HCl and Tazobactam sodium was obtained in the concentration range of 60-140µg/ml and 7.5-17.5µg/ml respectively. The developed method was simple, specific, sensitive, rapid, and economic and can be used for simultaneous estimation of Cefepime HCl and Tazobactam sodium in bulk and their injectable dosage form for routine analysis and stability studies
