  ABSTRACT

ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF EUCALYPTUS SPP. EXTRACTS AGAINST ALTERNARIA SOLANI ON TOMATO

In this study the effect of different leaves extracts of Eucalyptus spp. on causal organism of leaf blight on tomato (Alternaria solani) was evaluated in the laboratory and field conditions. Eucalyptus citriodora was highly effective in inhibiting the growth of A. solani, among the extracts tested, as it produced 67.60, 74.95 and 85.98% growth inhibition at 2, 5 and 10% concentrations, respectively. Growth inhibitions were between 38 to 65 and 39 to 48% in E. globulus and E. alba extracts, but E. leptopoda extract was not at all inhibitory even at 10% concentration. Eucalyptus grossa extracts produced only 38.20% inhibition at 10% concentration. By spraying of E. citriodora extract by 1.90 @ 5% concentration in field condition as compared to the unsparing plot, the disease intensity was easily managed
