  ABSTRACT

GREEN SYNTHESIS OF CHITOSAN SILVER NANOCOMPOSITES, ITS MEDICAL AND EDIBLE COATING ON FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

In the present study chitosan based silver nanoparticles was synthesized, characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR and SEM. The synthesized nanoparticles were further subjected to antibacterial activity and it was found to be maximum on Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The coated gauge cloth was used against the multidrug resistant pathogen Staphylococus aureus . The synthesized nanoparticle was used as edible coating on tomato and ladies finger. The shelf life period was measured on the coated fruit and vegetable and it was found to be no damage at room temperature after 28 days of incubation at room
