SSOCIATION BETWEEN CIRCULATING ADIPONECTIN LEVEL AND METABOLIC RISK FACTORS IN POST MENOPAUSAL WOMEN: A POPULATION BASED STUDY

The objective of this study is to find the effect of adiponectin level and metabolic risk factors in Postmenopausal women. We were recruit total 240 postmenopausal women and were divided into two groups according to NCEP ATP III criteria: 149 postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome and 91 postmenopausal women without metabolic syndrome. We measured Blood Pressure, WHR, BMI, fasting glucose, triglyceride and high density lipoprotein (HDL). Serum adiponectin level was determined by using Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) . A significant difference found in plasma glucose, serum lipid profile (triglyceride, Cholesterol & HDL), blood pressure, WHR and serum adiponectin between postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome and without metabolic syndrome
