  ABSTRACT

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND INVITRO STUDY OF ANTIOXIDANT, ANTICOAGULANT AND ANTI INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITIES OF 4-METHYL CHROMEN-2-ONE DERIVATIVES

The purpose of present study was to synthesize 4-methyl Chromen-2-one Derivatives and to screen for their invitro antioxidant, anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory activities. Anti-oxidant activity was performed by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl free radical scavenging activity, Phosphomolybdenum and scavenging of nitric oxide methods. The Anticoagulant activity was performed by estimating the Prothrombin time for fresh Human Blood. The Anti-inflammatory activity was performed by Inhibition of Protein Denaturation and HRBC (Human Red Blood Cell) Membrane Stabilization methods. The 4- methyl Chromen-2-one derivatives were characterized by spectroscopic techniques such as IR and 1H-NMR. All the 4-methyl Chromen-2-one derivatives showed a significant antioxidant, anti-coagulant and anti-inflammatory activities when compared to the standards. The IC50 values were calculated for each coumarin derivatives as well as standard (Gallic acid).
