FORMULATION, OPTIMIZATION AND EVALUATION OF LORATADINE GASTRO RETENTIVE TABLETS
Loratadine is a long-acting tricyclic antihistamine with selective peripheral histamine H1-receptor antagonistic activity. In this study Loratadine gastro retentive floating tablets were prepared and optimized the release of Loratadine by using HPMC K4 M and HPMC K15 M as polymers. The tablets prepared by direct compression technique and evaluated by physical parameters and in vitro dissolution parameters. A total nine formulations were prepared with varying polymer concentrations. All tablets were acceptable with strength was observed in tablets formulated with HPMC K4 M and HPMC K15 M. Formulation F9 showed maximum release 98% in 10 hrs. FT-IR studies showed no evidence of interaction between drug and polymers
