SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND PHARMACOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF SOME NOVEL CINNOLINE DERIVATIVES
An attempt has been made to synthesize Cinnoline containing Quinoxaline and Cinnoline containing Benzoxazine moieties. Cinnoline has received appreciable attention as they are empowered with variety of biological activities and they have wide range of therapeutic properties. A literature survey indicates that cinnoline derivatives possess different pharmacological and biological activities. Quinoxaline and 1, 4-Benzoxazine are important components of several pharmacologically active compounds. A series of 4-methyl-3-(quinoxalin-2-yl) cinnoline and 3-(4-methyl cinnolin-3-yl)-2H-benzo[b] [1, 4] oxazine were synthesized from 4-methyl-3-acetyl cinnoline treated with o-phenylenediamine and o-amino phenol respectively. The structure of the compounds were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectral data, and evaluated for their in vivo antiepileptic activity. All analogues showed in vivo anti-epileptic activity
