ISOLATION AND SCREENING OF ANTIBACTERIALS PRODUCING MARINE ACTINOMYCETES FROM SURYALANKA AND MACHILIPATNAM, ANDHRA PRADESH
Present Studies were conducted to isolate and identify the biologically potential marine actinomycetes and also these studies confirm that the isolates have enormous potential for the production of antimicrobial substance. In this study the potency of actinomycetes to produce antimicrobial substances has been studied in 14 strains isolated from different samples of Suryalanka beach. Bapatla, Guntur, A.P., & 12 strains isolated from Machilipatnam beach Krishna (dt) A.P. Antibacterial activity of all the isolated actinomycete strains were checked by cup-plate method against Gram positive bacteria; Staphylococcus sp and Bacillus and Gram negative bacteria E. coli, spp. The actinomycetes isolated from these eco systems are capable of producing antibiotics that strongly inhibit the growth of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Among 26 isolates tested, 04 isolates were found to be antibacterial compound producers. SLB- 08 exhibited higher activity and was, therefore selected for further studies
