COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PHYTOCHEMICAL AND IN VITRO ANTICANCER ACTIVITY OF HYDRO ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF DALBERGIA LATIFOLIA ROXB. AND CANNA INDICA LINN.
CT Dalbergia latifolia Roxb. (DLR) and Canna indica Linn. (CIL) plants are majorly available in India, traditionally used for various diseases. Hence the aim of the present study is to compare the phytochemical investigation and in vitro anticancer activity of Hydro ethanolic extract of the both plants against EAC cell lines. MTT assay was used to assess the in vitro anti cancer activity. Both the extracts at various doses were treated against the EAC cell lines. The parameters analyzed were percentage of cytotoxicity, percentage of cell viability and IC50 values were found out. In results the Hydro ethanolic extract of DLR showed the presence of Carbohydrates, Glycosides, Proteins, Amino Acids, Saponins, Tannins, Phytosterols, Phenolic Compounds, Triterpenoids, Flavonoids, where the Hydro ethanolic extract of CIL showed the presence of Flavonoids, Carbohydrates, Glycosides, Proteins, Amino Acids, Saponins, Tannins, Phytosterols, Phenolic Compounds and Alkaloids. In the in vitro anti cancer activity, the Hydro ethanolic extract of DLR showed the potent anti cancer activity. It showed 99.60±0.25 percentage of cytotoxicity at the dose of 2000 µg and it showed the IC50 value of 120 µg. The Hydro ethanolic extract of CIL showed minimal anti cancer activity. It showed only 57.42±0.32 percentage of cytotoxicity and the IC50 value was 2000 µg. In conclusion the Hydro ethanolic extract of DLR has significant anti cancer activity when compared to the Hydro ethanolic extract of CIL
