ASSESSMENT OF ANTIDIABETIC ACTIVITY OF OCIMUM CANUM LEAF EXTRACT AGAINST ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETES IN ALBINO RATS
Ocimum canum plant is widely used as traditional medicine to treat various diseases in India. The present study carried out on Ocimum canum leaves extracts in 200 mg/kg body weight was found to reduce the blood glucose level in alloxan induced diabetic rats. The results of the present study shows that the treated level of SGPT and SGOT in the disease control group reflected the significant alternation of liver function by alloxan induction. The effect of plant was found to be much comparable to that of standard drug glibenclamide treated rats
