DETERMINATION OF METAXALONE AND DICLOFENAC POTASSIUM IN COMBINED DOSAGE FORM BY FT-IR SPECTROSCOPY
The paper describes a simple and rapid Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopic method for the identification and quantification of Metaxalone (MET) and Diclofenac potassium (DIP) in combined dosage tablet formulation. The method involves the measurement of peak absorbance of carbonyl group (C=O) at 1737cm-1 for MET and amine group (NH) at 1577cm-1 for DIP. The calibration curves of MET and DIP were linear in the concentration range of 0.12 - 0.376mg and 0.015 - 0.047mg respectively. The LOD and LOQ for the developed method were found to be 0.006mg & 0.018mg for MET and 0.0009mg & 0.002mg for DIP respectively. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines for pharmaceuticals in tablet form and found to be highly precise with %RSD less than 2 and % recovery levels > 98
