DEVELOPMENT OF UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD OF METOLAZONE IN BULK DRUGS AND PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORM
The present UV spectroscopic method is simple, accurate, specific and highly sensitive, developed in 0.1 N methanolic HCl The method is validated for the determination of Metolazone in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The standard solution of Metolazone in 0.1N methanolic HCl showed maximum absorption at 236nm. The method shows high sensitivity with linearity 8 to16μg/ml. All the calibration curves shows a linear relationship between the absorbance and concentration and coefficient correlation was higher than 0.999. The regression of the curve was Y =12.86x+0.044. The percentage recovery was found to be 99-101%. The proposed method will be suitable for the analysis of MTZ in bulk and in marketed preparations. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies
