CLEAN-CONTAMINATED AND CONTAMINATED PROCEDURES IN GENERAL SURGERY; WOUND COMPLICATIONS IN OUR PRACTICE
The aim of this study was to evaluate the rate of complications for clean-contaminated and contaminated operations at prince Ali hospital. Retrospective analysis of 116 case who underwent Clean-contaminated and contaminated procedures in general surgery in our hospital over one year period; April 2014 – March 2015. Clinical record abstract form was designed data for our study. The commonest surgical complications in our study were the wound infection (15.45%) and wound dehiscence (1.8%). Implementation of surgical guidelines regarding patient preparation for surgery, room sterility and safety rules will result in lower rate of complications, improve patient’s outcome and reduce medical expenditure
