SOME BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF ENDOPHYTIC FUNGI FUSARIUM SOLANI LOI-TOI 005 ISOLATED FROM Clinacanthus nutansa MEDICINAL PLANT
Endophytic fungi Fusarium solani LOI-TOI 005 has been isolated from Clinacanthus nutans. The disc diffusion method and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) methods were used to determine the antimicrobial activity of solvent extracts from EPF. The phytochemicals like phenols, tannis, steroids, anthroquinon and terpenoids were found in this endophyticfungus.Total phenolic content was found to be 201.05mg.Thin layer chromatograph (TLC) was performed for the compound separation and identified under the visible light, iodine vapor, vanilline spray and UV light. R f values found to be Iodine vapor (0.82, 0.46), UV light (0.88, 0.78, 0.72, 0.04) and white light (0.8, 0.7, 0.2). Fusarium solani LOI-TOI 005 ethyl acetate solvent extract was tested for its α-glucosidase inhibition activity using ascorbic acid as standard antioxidant.IC50 value of EPF was found to be 589.14±2.54 µg/ml. Free radical scavenging activity evaluated using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) free radical showedIC50 value of 549.17±2.15μg/ml. The reducing power activity IC 50 value of EPF was 354.54±1.75μg/ml. Fusarium solani LOI-TOI 005 fungi ethyl acetate extract clearly revealed the dose-dependent increase in the anti-cancer activity and proves scientifically anethno-medicinal claim for its high antioxidant and anti-cancer properties
